Pickup: Adidas ObyO MT Boot

While the sun is still blessing the earths surface, it can be rewarding to think about the upcoming seasons. Most of you are aware of the huge sale craze going on to clear stockrooms and prepare them for fall stock. By coincidence I stumbled upon a nice fall/winter shoe, the Adidas MT Boot. The shoe usually retails for over €200,- ($260,-) so I happily picked these up for 30% of the suggested retail price.

The model comes from the O by O (Originals by Originals) designed by Kazuki Kuraishi. Kazuki is one of the key members of Neighborhood, and worked with Bape, Visvim, W(Taps and Silly Thing on a seasonal basis as consultant and design director. He is the Creative Director for Adidas Japan, and also the ‘other half’ of Fragment Design with Hiroshi Fujiwara.

The big disadvantage of eBay is that you never know what to expect, authenticity, unfriendly sellers and so on had me think more than once about turning my back to the site. This time around it all turned out well, I knew there was no OG box available, but receiving the shoes in a plastic bag only nearly gave me a hartattack at the post-office. Miraculously the shoes stayed in good shape, some small scratches but no heavy damage.

The shoe has some great details  & materials, a beautiful insole and seems to be produced with great care. Take a look at the pics to see it for yourself.

The biggest suprise to me was the weight of this pair. Judging by the rugged materials and looks one would expect this shoe to be heavy; wrong. The MT Boot is very light; 450 grams a shoe. I’ve compared this with 4 other shoes, 2 Jordans and 2 Air Maxes. Only the Air Max 87 was lighter, 9 grams lighter to be exact. Isnt it awesome that a boot with hiking looks can have the weight of a runner? I think it is.
