What else? #2 Quintin Co
The New Era Cap Company plays a huge roll in the fitted cap market. Being the exclusive manufacturer of the official on-field cap worn by every Major League Baseball team is one of the main reasons for this. I do wonder if people are aware of the alternatives available when looking for a fitted cap. Nowadays there are plenty of brands producing top quality fitted caps. A great thing as competition is the best way to force companies to perform at their best. In a series of posts I will try to encourage fitted enthusiasts to look further than what they’re familiar with, by showing one alternative at a time.
The second brand we look at in the ‘What else?‘ series is Quintin. The LA based hat manufacturer started in 2009 (I think) and positions itself as the founder of the 5 panel fitted. All of its hats are produced in the US of A. Below we take a closer look to two pieces, the ‘Flappy’, a 5 panel fitted with flaps and the Qlark, a flat brim style 6 panel fitted.
The flappy style hat has a great look and feel due to its materials. The grey wool crown and brim really come to live being combined with the traditional quilt pattern on the inside of the flaps. The little silver Q on the front panel is a stylish way of getting the brand name across.

The Qlark fitted dates from 2009, the combination of black, grey, cement and green neon is perfect. Without a logo or branding this piece remains very clean too, which is quite impressive when using so many different materials. Great little detail is the 3M sandwich bill, ensuring you stand out in your party pics.

The build quality of both pieces I used for reference give me faith in the production process of the brand. The used materials, patterns and colors are on point. Actually, theres a lot of snapbacks & 5 panels designs I would love to see on a model like the Qlark. The fit of the 6 panel fitted is good, I like my hats deep, making them cover as much from my huge head as possible, Quintin doesn’t disappoint here. Although I must admit Im more a flat brim kinda guy I really appreciate Quintin giving the fitted enthusiast more variety to chose from style wise. Also, being into 5 panels is no longer an excuse for back snapping.
