Saucony Shadow x Acht recap

Today Amsterdam based sneakershop “8cht” dropped their view on the Saucony Shadow 6000. When checking twitter for the word on the street I found out only a handful of sneakerheads were camping so I decided to take a chance to pickup a pair for myself. 45 minutes after the doors opened I arrived at the shop and when I stepped in it was suprisingly quiet. In the back there was still a decent stack of boxes available, the friendly lady behind the counter said half of the available pairs were already gone.

This release got Amsterdam written all over it which starts with the colors of the (huge amount of) materials used. The felt, leather, denim, mesh and plastic-like details are based on the Amsterdam flag colors: red, white and black. For those not aware of the colorscheme theres “Amsterdam” stitched on both heels as well. The box is also nicely decorated with typical gables seen in the city centre. The greatest thing about the box is when you open it the Dutch song “Tulpen uit Amsterdam” (Tullips from Amsterdam) is played, see the short video below. A very creative and fun little extra. The shoes also come in a nice tote bag with the Saucony Originals logo on one side and the 8cht logo on the other.

Its great to see how Saucony is targeting the “sneakerhead” segment over the last couple of years. Its even nicer to see a collaboration done in the Netherlands. All in all a solid release, and with a restriction of 2 pairs per customer instead of 1, I was able to make the day of a far away friend as well. Thank you Saucony and thank you 8cht.
