The NSW Eugene Duffel
Back in july I won the monthly Crooked Tongues TIA contest with this wdywt shot. Besides the honor this meant a £50,- voucher to spend in the CT webshop, here is how I spent it. Ever since I missed out on the Cascade Messenger that dropped last year Ive been following the NSW carrying line closely. The Eugene Duffel is a model that seems to be released twice this year. I took the one that released second as available at CT.
I must admit that this bag riddled me a bit when unpacking it. As you can see by the pictures the bag is a huge rectangle when empty, look at the iPhone next to it for reference. Although its very big, it can easily be folded into a small package for storing. When filing it the bag takes a more familiair shape and it was until than that I realized that the top and bottom flaps can be connected by the iron hardware and leather loops.
The bag feels just the way it looks; tuff. The duffel is made from polyester and all seems are welded, including the inside-out zippers to prevent H2O from creeping in. The iron details add to the rugged feel of the bag. Also the aluminium clips on the handles and shoulder strap are an beautiful detail and give the bag a sense of refinement. The handles can be placed in a variety of ways using the loops on each side, great for adjusting carrying height. The provided shoulder strap is nicely padded for comfort and can be placed diagonally using the same loops used by the regular handles. A well thought out detail are the two leather handles on the top, these come in handy when the handles are replaced with the shoulder strap, enabling carrying it by hand at any setup. The inside has an extra storage unit with zipper and three pockets.
I guess this bag was aimed to be used as a weekender and it provides more than enough space to live up to that name. For the photos below I added 10 pairs of jeans and 4 chino’s with some room left still. Im extremely happy with this duffel (now I know how it works), shout to CT for funding it partially. All I need is a couple of days off to use it where it was designed for.

Damn.. sweet bag. Is this only being sold in the UK/Crooked Tongues right now? I can’t find it anywhere in the states.. I can only find this one: http://www.firmamentberlin.com/nike_sportswear/22286/tote_travel_bag.html.
Hey Alex, thanks for your comment. The link you sent is showing the Eugene duffel from the beginning of last year, the one shown in this article is seems to be a second release. I’m currently on holiday but will do some research to see if this bag is being carried in the states as well. I think I have some addresses but need to verify them. I will get back at you the coming week.
I’m in the same predicament Alex is. The Eugene on the Nike site is different from this one. Any news on it???
Hi BisonMan07, I will send you a list of retailers I made last week by email. Nearly all of them are European, but the US address is asking way more.
Thanks, send email to cbatten83@hotmail.com and I appreciate your help. I went ahead and ordered the older version yesterday. I’ll probably cop the new one when it comes out too.
You’ve got mail!
aleco911@gmail.com.. shoot me a list of them as well.
I ended up getting the old one.. bad ass.. but this one is cool as well. The roll top on the old one is actually quite usefull if you really need to expand the bag.
You’ve got mail Alex
Will you hit me with a list of the retail sites that carry this version of the bag?
Cheers!
Hi Austin, thanks for commenting. Ive send you an email. Let me
know if that list works for you.
