Apps for sneakerheads: Pulse

In the previous chapter of the apps for sneakerheads we talked about Reeder as part of the third step in the sneaker purchasing process. Today we talk about another RSS reader to keep track of the latest sneaker related news doing the same thing, but in a different way. I have both installed on my devices so you can choose which app you prefer to consume your news.

Why use this app?
Because you want to keep track of all sneaker related news. And you dont want to miss out on upcoming releasedates.

What does it do?
Pulse app is an RSS reader. You can add feeds and sort them in different pages. The application focuses on users that are interested in the latest posts on the blogs/sites of their interest.

Why it’s great
Pulse is visualizing every post with a thumbnail, enabling the user to scroll quickly through each feed seeing if theres something of interest. You can select the feed you want to view and scroll through all articles quickly by swiping, or selecting the thumbs in the strip at the bottom of the screen. The choice to only show the latest posts prevents the user to drown in a news overload. Another great thing is that the app is free. Oh, and its works exactly the same for iPad too.

What could be better?
Its hard to distinguish the difference between read and unread articles, as thumbs get a little darker only. As the application is available for iPhone and iPad it would have been great to be able to sync read & unread news throughout devices. For the me this is the main reason to use Reeder instead of Pulse. Last improvement would be to offer the app as a universal binary, making a download on your iPhone a download for iPad too.

Pulse is free on all platforms and available for iPhone, iPad & Android.
