A couple of weeks back I was pleasantly surprised by finding some Presto color ways at Footlocker. Missing out on last years all black presto’s made picking these up extra easy. I dont know why Nike decided to release these so quickly after last years ones but Im thankful either way. The only 2 differences are the logo on the tongue and the black swoosh on the midsole, which was white on last years release. Another great thing about these Presto’s is the adjusted sizing, Im not sure when it happened but my 2001 Presto Wovens are a fraction too small in my size L. These however fit perfect.

There has been a lot of talk about the comfort level of the Nike Roshe lately, just for the record: the Presto remains Nikes undisputed comfort king.

Size info: true to size, which is an L for my US12

Heres another graphically skilled individual combining graphic design with footwear love. Warsaw based Art Director & Illustrator Pawel Nolbert started a very interesting personal project called ‘Sneakercube‘. It’s an ongoing project in which sneakers are reflected graphically in a cube. If that sounds complicated just have a look below at some examples of these beautiful cubes.

Ill be following Pawel closely with this great idea, Hopefully this project will make it to print some day just like Matts work did.

Ive been spending way too much of my income on shoes for the past 6 years. When looking back I can see my taste <del>developed</del> changed a bit. While the biggest share of boxes still hold runners there is a growing segment of more exotic models like prestos & footscapes. Where I love diving into the less obvious models my environment doesn’t always agree with the choices made.

Although us sneakerheads might think we have the most refined taste in footwear it seems that this perception is changing when moving to the more funky models in the sneaker spectrum. Actually, lately I get the feeling that the majority of people is strongly disagreeing with what gets me excited these days. Dont get it twisted, it doesn’t affect me in buying what I like, the level of enthusiasm around me now is just different from a couple of years back. And that doesn’t matter, diversity is a beautiful thing, in opinions as well.

If you can handle an opinion different than yours its actually quite refreshing to hear the raw & uncut remarks around you. Better yet, the creativity in some of these opinions are just hilarious. Take the image here for example, a beautiful example of shots fired at the Gourmet Dignan, gotta love your colleagues! To give an impression of what I’m hearing from family, friends & colleagues around me here some of the things I’ve coped with.

“What the f*ck are these” on the Nike Air Footscape Motion

“These are the most ugly shoes Ive ever seen in my life” on the Footscape Wovens

“Those look like rollerskates without the wheels” on the Adidas ObyO MT Boot

“Did they pay you to wear those?” on the Gourmet Quadici

I cannot imagine Im the only one experiencing this, im looking forward to hear how your choice of footwear is being verbally attacked in the comments below.

The fanny pack is probably the most hated-on carrying item to date. Without a doubt the target group associated with the bagtype is the reason for this. Either 65+ tourists (no shots) or neon tight nightmare memories from the 90′s, a period in time in which style seemed strictly forbidden.

Over the past year the fanny pack, referred to as waist-pack from now on seems to have made a comeback. To cut a long story short, I like the comeback of this little bag and there have been some decent releases as of late now that some brands are taking note of the trend. Keep in mind one thing, the way the pack is worn will determine how serious the bag will be taken. Personally, I like to wear it like an XS messenger bag, so across the shoulder. Its the perfect way to keep your pockets empty while still having all your essentials like your phone, wallet & keys with you.

The one I have been carrying for the past half year is an all-black pack from Japan based Master-Piece. The bag is made from treated-canvas with some suede details on the bottom, alongside the zippers, logo and strap that gives the bag a more premium feel. The pack has a main compartment and a ‘quick access’ part up front. The main part has an additional pocket inside for those items you want to give some extra protection. The most eye-catching detail of the bag is the heavy-duty metal buckle on the strap (3rd photo).

When Master-piece is your brand name you can expect customers to have high expectations about quality, especially when the price tag suggest the same. I must say that those expectations were not fully met, let me explain why. The zippers feel a little vulnerable as they are nylon and have a lot of teeth, I would expect a more rugged type of zipper here. The treated-canvas seems solid, but I hoped it to be a little thicker. The buckle (last photo) on the strap does reflect high quality so as the suede details. What I really like about the ‘over version 4′ waist pack is the way the strap is attached to the bag, the flaps to which the strap connects are relatively short, which looks better than the long flaps especially when worn across the shoulder.

All in all in happy with this pack, there are some things that could be improved but its size and looks are perfect. I wonder if the perception about the waist pack will continue to change and how big its acceptance will become in the (near) future. Let me know if you appreciate or disapprove with the possible resurrection of the waist-pack.

Ive requested my own gallery but the opening can take long. The process will speed up if users request the opening for the specific gallery. I guess you can feel where this is going, if you like my pics, which you can also see in the footer of this blog, help me out by requesting an early opening.

It has been a while since I’ve talked about a pickup, but Nike latest model got me so excited I had to do a post about it.

First things that catches the attention of the Roshe Run is its shape, a pretty straight outsole with only minor curling up front, better known as banana-shape-syndrom. Mesh lovers will like this shoe too as its fully covered in it, very nice to feel the wind blowing through. The tongue is connected to the inside of the shoe to prevent it to move to the left or right while wearing (3rd pic). The toe part and tongue are made from one piece, simple and effective. Theoretically this shoe has no mid or outsole as the so called EVA-sole unit comes in one piece, and doesn’t carry much weight either. The total shoe weighs just 276 grams (the AM87 Miller weighs 443 grams). The insole is also very nice, a completely rubber bright yellow insole which looks specifically designed for this model if we look at the bottom of it. You might think that things get a little sweaty because of this but because of the complete mesh upper this is not the case.

Although I usually dont like a ‘bonded’ swoosh, it works on the Roshe because it walks the line between tech and tradition nicely. Simplicity is what make this shoe so good in my opinion. What does concern me a bit is that the toe part is so thin that it feels a little vulnerable. I wonder how long the part that is glued to the front of the sole will last before separating (see 4th pic), time will tell I guess. If I could point out another negative point is that the sole-unit is a little too chunky on the inner sides (pic 5).

For now Ill just rock the sh*t out of these. It doesn’t happen often that I wear a pair 3 times in its first week. This shoe looks like a great canvas for experimenting with materials and colors too, going the tech or a more traditional route, both I could see happening. I would love to see some camo’s and hemp like materials on these…

For those interested, these fit true to size
